The German Army had a variety of weapons and uniforms during the war. At the start the German army used the Gewehr 98 as their standard issue rifle and the MG08 as their main machine gun however as the war progressed many more weapons were used such as the first sub machine gun the MP18 and the dreaded Flamethrower. The German army also used pistols which were used by officers. These included the Mauser C96 and P08. Unlike Britain or France, Germany was late to realise that they needed a tank of there own so they produced the A7V Tank however it was expensive to build and would frequently break down on rough terrain. As for headgear it is debatable whether Germany or Great Britain where the first to produce a helmet as Germany went into the war with the Pickelhaube however it was not standard issued and cost a lot of money. The other option was the M1907 field cap, which was standard issue. However as the war progressed Germany designed the M1916 Stalhem and the add on, Stirnpanser, that could cover the front of the stalhem and offer more protection for snipers. By the end of the war the Stalhelm was used by most of the soldiers. There is one helmet which most people forget which was the Gaede M1915 which was unofficially designed by General Gaede who was shocked by the number of injuries his soldiers were facing so he issued it to his troops. Germany used the P010 German Tunic, German straight leg trousers, black leather belt, leather straps and black boots.
